Agartala: Nov 13: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said Tripura is witnessing a new chapter of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the state government focuses on employment generation, connectivity, healthcare, education, and infrastructure with full transparency.
Dr. Saha made the remark while inaugurating 20 development projects and laying the foundation stone of two others at Kamalpur in Dhalai district once considered among the most backward but now showing visible transformation.
Highlighting the strides made in education, the Chief Minister said that in 2024–25, 44 new schools were established with an expenditure of ₹153 crore, while another 44 schools were renovated at a cost of ₹80.87 crore. During 2025–26, ₹264 crore was spent on building 30 new schools and ₹151 crore on renovating existing ones. He also announced plans for setting up a Medical College in Dhalai, emphasizing that “Tripura is progressing in every field be it infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education or agriculture.”
Dr. Saha further noted that the state has seen significant improvement in healthcare indicators, including a sharp drop in child mortality rates. “Our government is committed to improving the socio-economic condition of rural people,” he said.
The event was attended by Dhalai Zilla Sabhadhipati Susmita Das, MLA and former minister Manoj Kanti Deb, MLA Swapna Das Pal, Health Secretary Kiran Gittee, and senior officials.
Later in the day, on his way back from Kamalpur, the Chief Minister visited Shanti bazar Market in Dhalai district to meet traders and residents affected by the October 23 bandh violence called by the Tripura Civil Society.
Interacting with the victims, Dr. Saha urged people to uphold peace and harmony and assured that the government stands firmly with the affected families. He directed the District Magistrate to ensure swift rehabilitation measures and announced a relief package ₹3 lakh for fully damaged houses and shops, ₹1.5 lakh for severely damaged ones, and ₹15,000 for those partially damaged.
He also assured that financial and medical assistance would be extended to all those injured in the incident.
