Agartala: Nov 13. In a major crackdown on illegal cannabis cultivation, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Police, led by SDPO Vikash Senthiya and Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Das, conducted a massive anti-ganja operation, destroying over one lakh cannabis plants spread across 45 plots in remote hilly areas under Bishalgarh Police Station limits.
The joint task force comprising officials from the District Intelligence Branch (Sepahijala), CRPF, 11th Battalion TSR, and 14th Battalion Women TSR launched the operation early Thursday morning. The team, accompanied by a large group of laborers, entered the interior hill zones of Banshibari ADC village, Belbari, and Barkuchi, uprooting extensive cannabis plantations one after another.
The sudden police action created panic among local cultivators, many of whom were seen watching from distant forest patches as their illegal crops were destroyed.

Speaking to the reporters after the operation, SDPO Vikash Senthiya said that several other cannabis fields have been identified in the region and assured that all will be cleared soon. He also issued a stern warning to cultivators, urging them to refrain from engaging in illegal ganja cultivation, cautioning that continued involvement will lead to serious consequences.
