Agartala: Nov 08. Tension flared at Thapidayal High School under Teliamura police station in the 29-Krishnapur Assembly Constituency on Saturday after the transfer order of a senior lady teacher triggered outrage among students and guardians.
According to reports, the school has been functioning with only three teachers to manage the education of around 86 students. The sudden transfer of one of the few remaining teachers provoked strong resentment, as locals claimed it would severely affect the already strained academic environment.
In protest, students and guardians locked the school gates and blocked the Teliamura-Ghilatali road, disrupting the vehicular movement for hours. The blockade led to traffic congestion in the surrounding areas until the Teliamura police arrived and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade after a discussion.
Locals alleged that the shortage of teachers has long been hampering the school’s educational activities. They appealed to the administration to immediately revoke the transfer order, calling it a major setback for the students.
