Agartala, November 5, 2025: Royal scion and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Manikya Debbarma today interacted with media persons at MBB Airport, Agartala, after returning from New Delhi, where he attended a crucial meeting of Northeast regional political leaders to discuss the formation of a new united political platform for the region.
Speaking to reporters, Pradyot highlighted the growing sense of solidarity among the indigenous communities of the Northeast.
“We are all saying the same thing on different platforms as Tiprasas, as Mizos, as Nagas. But we have never spoken together in Delhi as indigenous people,” he said. “Today, the Tiprasa is not alone. The Nagas, Garos, Arunachalis, Manipuris, Dimasas, and Bodos are all standing with us. The entire Northeast is coming together.”
Reiterating his people-first ideology, he added:
“My only brand is the people. There is no brand bigger than the people and their future not even the Bhubagra brand. I have fallen in love with my community, not with power or politics. The future of our people is more important than the future of BJP, Tipra Motha, CPM, or Congress.”
On the Village Council elections issue, Pradyot confirmed that the matter is listed for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday.
“The state government had asked for more time, but the Chief Justice denied the request and directed them to appear on Monday,” he said. “If elections were already agreed upon, why was there such a delay? Why did we have to go to the Supreme Court, the High Court, and face contempt notices? The last election was held in 2016 almost ten years ago. In a democracy, why are our Tiprasa people being denied village council elections for so long?”
When asked about the Tripura Accord, Pradyot stated that he had discussions in Delhi with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and senior officials.
“They have told me they want to move forward with it. We will see how soon it happens,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Pradyot emphasized that the focus should remain on the people, not political parties.
“The media keeps asking what will happen to the party. But no party is bigger than the people. If we truly want to solve people’s problems, we must put their interests above politics,” he asserted.
