Khowai, November 4: High tension gripped the Bachai Bari area under Champahour Police Station in Khowai subdivision on Tuesday evening after reports surfaced about the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals through the international border.
Police sources said they received specific information that a few Bangladeshi nationals had been spotted in the area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) and his team rushed to the spot. As they tried to detain the suspects, the situation turned chaotic when the group reportedly attempted to attack the police team.

“Based on the information, our OC and his team reached the spot immediately. When they tried to catch the suspects, they tried to attack our personnel. Some of our police members also got minor injuries. We managed to rescue all four — two Indians and two Bangladeshis. One of them was injured and is now admitted to Khowai District Hospital,” said a senior police officer.
He added that the injured person is under medical supervision, and if necessary, will be shifted to GB Hospital for further treatment. The two Indian touts have been detained and will be interrogated after their medical check-up.
Meanwhile, police and BSF officials have been deployed in large numbers to control the situation. The area is now calm, and joint patrolling is being carried out to prevent any further disturbance.
