Participants to Observe First Phase of Bihar Assembly Elections
New Delhi, November 4: The Election Commission of India (ECI) today inaugurated the International Election Visitors’ Programme (IEVP) 2025 at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi.
Chief Election Commissioner Shri Ganesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi interacted with the delegates participating in the programme.
A total of 14 delegates from seven countries France, South Africa, Belgium, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Colombia attended the inaugural session.
During the event, participants were given a demonstration of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and presentations by senior ECI officials on various aspects of India’s election management, including voter list preparation and polling operations.
As part of the IEVP itinerary, the delegates will visit Bihar from November 5 to 6, 2025, where they will tour EVM dispatch centers and observe the polling process during the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections on November 6, 2025.
The IEVP is one of the flagship initiatives of the Election Commission of India, aimed at strengthening international cooperation and engagement with other Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and global organizations.
Since its inception in 2014, the IEVP has been showcasing the robustness of India’s electoral system on the global stage and sharing best practices in conducting elections in the world’s largest democracy.
