Tripura, 3 Nov 2025: In a major catch, Bishalgarh police detained two youths one of them a minor with ₹7 lakh in cash during a routine traffic checking drive on the Bishalgarh–Boxanagar road.

According to police sources, the traffic unit signalled a motorcycle (registration number TRA07H9462) to stop. However, the rider ignored the signal, prompting police to intercept the bike. On searching, officers recovered bundles of ₹500 notes amounting to ₹7 lakh, which were reportedly hidden around their waists.
One of the detainees has been identified as Rubel Hossain, a resident of Rahimpur under Boxanagar. During interrogation, the duo could not give any clear explanation about the source or purpose of the money.

Bishalgarh PS Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee said, “During regular vehicle checking, the team found their statements suspicious. On searching them, we found 60 bundles of ₹500 notes. They couldn’t give a proper answer about where the money came from. The traffic unit then brought them to the police station for further questioning.”
Police suspect the cash could be linked to illegal narcotics trade that has been spreading in the border belt. The duo is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
