New Delhi, 3rd Nov 2025: Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, along with TTAADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Purna Chandra Jamatia, appeared before the Supreme Court on Friday to demand justice for the people of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), where Village Council elections have not been held for almost 10 years.
After today’s proceedings, Pradyot shared that the Supreme Court has rejected the state government’s plea for an extension, marking a crucial step toward restoring democracy at the grassroots level. The Court has fixed a detailed hearing for Monday, which could determine the timeline for the long-delayed elections.
Calling it a “fight for justice for the poor Tiprasa people,” Pradyot said the absence of elections for a decade has denied villagers their basic democratic rights. He expressed hope that the upcoming hearing will finally clear the way for Village Council polls and bring back people’s representation in the TTAADC areas.
