Agartala: Nov 03. In a significant development, the High Court of Tripura has reinstated the excise license of the Happiest Hour bar, located adjacent to Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala. The license, which had earlier been cancelled by the Collector of Excise on 16/09/2025, was restored following an order passed by Justice T. Amarnath Goud.
The court observed that the cancellation order lacked sufficient justification under the excise regulations, and therefore directed that the permit be restored, allowing the establishment to resume operations.
Meanwhile, senior officials in the state administration are preparing to challenge the order. An official appeal is expected to be filed before the Division Bench of the High Court within this week.
Earlier, the opening of Happiest Hour has reignited public debate as the bar’s location near the cultural hub of Rabindra Bhavan has been a long-standing point of contention.
