Tripura to Host “Unity Promo Fest” Across Six Locations to Boost Tourism
Tripura, 1st Nov 2025: To promote Tripura’s growing tourism industry and showcase the aesthetic beauty of the state’s tourist destinations to the world, the government has announced the second edition of the Promo Fest, rebranded this year as the “Unity Promo Fest.”
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury made the announcement this afternoon at a press conference held at Geetanjali State Guest House. He said that after the remarkable success of last year’s inaugural Promo Fest held across four locations the festival will now expand to six locations this year.
The festival will begin on November 8 with the inaugural event at Narkelkunja, followed by a series of two-day events at various tourist spots across the state. The addition of the word “Unity” reflects the idea that the development of Tripura’s tourism can only be achieved through the collective harmony and cooperation of all communities tribal and non-tribal alike.
To make the event more engaging, this year’s Unity Promo Fest will feature food festivals, fashion shows, sports activities, and cultural performances that highlight the state’s rich traditions. The fashion show will present traditional attire from Tripura’s 19 tribal communities and Bengali culture, while the cultural programs will spotlight local talents and promote indigenous livelihoods to create employment opportunities.
As announced:
Narkelkunja (Nov 8–9): Cultural evening on the second day featuring Krishnakoli Saha and Albert Cabo Lepcha Belonia (Nov 15–16) at Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar College Ground: Musical performance by Palak Muchhal Udaipur (Nov 19–20): Performance by renowned singer Papon on November 20 Jampui Hills (Nov 29–30): Cultural event featuring a band from Mizoram Neermahal (Dec 4–5): Musical performance by Debojit Saha Agartala (Dec 12) at Swami Vivekananda Maidan: Grand closing ceremony with a live performance by Jubin Nautiyal
Minister Chowdhury expressed hope that the closing ceremony in Agartala will be a historic event. He also mentioned that significant infrastructure development work is underway to strengthen the tourism sector.
Highlighting last year’s success, he noted that during the previous Promo Fest at Narkelkunja, licenses were issued to nine local residents to start homestay services. Today, over 210 homestays are operational in and around the area, with similar initiatives expanding to other tourist destinations as well.
The minister urged locals to take advantage of these opportunities and partner in the state’s tourism growth, adding that with the government’s dedicated efforts, Tripura’s tourism potential can soon achieve global recognition.
Also present at the press meet were Prashant Badal Negi, Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, and Aniruddha Roy, Joint Director of the Tourism Department.
