Tripura, 1st Nov 2025: A 29-year-old woman from Barobagai area of North Singichhara village in Khowai district had been suffering from severe abdominal pain for the past three months, which made her daily life unbearable. Seeking relief, she approached Dr. S. K. Debbarma, on-duty medical officer at the Emergency Department of Khowai District Hospital, on October 28, 2025.
After listening to her complaints, Dr. Debbarma advised a few essential diagnostic tests. Based on the reports, he confirmed that the woman was suffering from inguinal hernia, which required immediate surgery.
However, upon hearing about the operation, her family became worried about the cost. Dr. Debbarma then informed them that the surgery could be performed free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Relieved by this assurance, the family agreed to proceed. The woman was admitted the same day, and the surgery was scheduled for October 30, 2025.
Under the leadership of Dr. S. K. Debbarma, a medical team was formed to carry out the operation. The team included:

Thanks to the team’s coordinated effort, the surgery was successfully completed. The patient is now recovering well under medical supervision.
The woman and her family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of Khowai District Hospital for their dedicated service.
