Agartala: Nov 01. Former Tripura Minister and Tipra Motha leader Manindra Reang on Friday joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the presence of Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and President of the RLD, ahead of the upcoming TTAADC elections, marking a new chapter for UP’s regional party in Tripura.
Reang, 77, said his decision to join the RLD was motivated by the party’s vision of inclusive development and youth empowerment in the ADC areas, which he alleged had been neglected for years since the CPI-M era, “Winning elections and sending representatives is not the main goal if we cannot connect with the people. Without that, development will not happen,” Reang stated after joining the party.
Highlighting rising unemployment among Tiprasa youths, Reang said, “If this continues, we can’t think of the development of Tiprasa. By working with the ideals of RLD, I hope to create opportunities and generate work for our people.”
He also informed that discussions were held with RLD national president Jayant Chaudhary regarding the development roadmap for the ADC areas. “Jayant Chaudhary has assured full support and will soon visit Tripura to meet the people,” Reang added.
After joining the party Reang was immediately appointed as the Tripura state president of the party by the party chief Jayant Chaudhary.
A veteran leader, Manindra Reang served as Minister for Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG), Home (Jail), and GA (Printing and Stationery) in the Tripura government from 2003 to 2018. After losing the 2018 Assembly election, he joined the Janata Dal (United) in 2019 and later shifted to the Tipra Motha in 2022 before his latest political move to the RLD.
