Agartala, November 1, 2025: Eight-year-old Biraj Banik, a resident of Bir Bikram Chowmuhani, Agartala, has brought laurels to Tripura by winning Gold and Bronze medals in the 4th KUE North East Zone Karate Championship 2025, held from October 10 to 12 in Arunachal Pradesh.
Biraj, son of Bikram Banik, competed in the 8–9 years, 20 kg category, showcasing remarkable skill and determination. Alongside karate, he has also achieved success in kickboxing.
Speaking about his student’s achievement, Coach Pinaki Chakraborty of the NSRCC Karate Coaching Centre said,
“Namaskar. Biraj Banik is one of our promising young karatekas from Tripura. He has been undergoing regular training at our NSRCC Karate Coaching Centre for the last three years. Despite being just eight, he has been practicing karate from a very young age and has consistently participated in various tournaments.
In the recently held 4th KUE North East Zone Karate Championship in Arunachal Pradesh, Biraj performed exceptionally well, defeating strong players from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Nagaland to win the Gold medal for our state. He also secured a Bronze medal in another event. We are truly proud of his achievements. Biraj is the pride of Tripura’s karate fraternity.”
Following his Gold medal win, Biraj has been selected to represent the North East Zone in the upcoming Inter-Zonal Karate Championship to be held in Goa this December.



Expressing his dreams to the media, Biraj said he aspires to represent India in the Olympics one day. He has already been felicitated twice by the Chief Minister of Tripura, who blessed him to keep climbing the ladder of success.
With his dedication and talent, this young martial artist from Tripura is steadily carving a bright path toward national and international recognition.
