Facebook Creator Madhabi Biswas Alias Munmun Sent to 3-Day Police Custody
Agartala, Oct 27: Facebook digital creator Madhabi Biswas, also known as Munmun Biswas, was arrested late Sunday night from her residence in Juban Nagar by police and taken to IGM Hospital for medical examination. Police also seized her mobile phone.

According to police sources, Biswas has been accused of using social media to post obscene photos and videos to lure men, later blackmailing and extorting money from them through Facebook and WhatsApp.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Raju Datta informed that the case, West Agartala Women’s PS Case No. 123/2025, was filed by Smt. Parmita Ghosh under sections 196, 197, 294, 297, 299, 351, 352, 353, 308(5), 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66E, 67, 67A of the IT Act.
During Monday’s hearing at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, West Tripura District, presided over by CJM Shoukat Das, the prosecution sought seven days of police remand. After detailed arguments, the court granted three days’ police custody and rejected her bail plea.
Advocate Raju Datta stated that Biswas allegedly blackmailed the complainant’s husband, extorting ₹50,000 on one occasion and ₹30,000 on another.
“The court has accepted our argument that such individuals misuse social media to spread obscenity and create a corrupting influence on young people,” Datta said.
Madhabi Biswas will be produced in court again on October 30 after the completion of her remand period.
Biswas, known for frequently going live on Facebook to troll and criticize the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and other senior political leaders, had multiple FIRs filed against her by different individuals in recent months.
