Agartala, October 25, 2025: Tension continues to grip the Kamalpur subdivision’s Shantirbazar area following Thursday’s violent clashes during the 24-hour bandh called by the Tiprasa Civil Society. The situation turned volatile on October 23, prompting the Dhalai District Administration to impose Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to maintain law and order. The order prohibits gatherings of more than four persons, carrying weapons, delivering provocative speeches, and vehicle movement in restricted areas within the subdivision until further notice.
Several government officers, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Samudra Debbarma and Salema BDO Abhijit Majumder, sustained head injuries while trying to assess the situation on the ground. Reports also indicate the use of arrows and sharp weapons during the confrontation, which left multiple people injured.

In the aftermath, Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma visited the GBP Hospital in Agartala on Saturday to meet the injured officers. He expressed concern over the rising violence and urged restraint.
In a post on social media, Pradyot Manikya stated,
“Went and met the victims of mindless violence today at GB Hospital. I have known BDO Abhijit Mazumdar since last year and he is one of the finest officers who worked tirelessly when floods hit Tripura last year. I remember walking many kilometres with him in tribal areas that were completely disconnected from the rest of the state. Also met Engineer Animesh Saha and his elder brother and enquired about his condition. When people resort to violence, the entire state suffers and I condemn all acts of violence.”
Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident, while additional security forces remain deployed across sensitive areas of Dhalai district to prevent further escalation.
