Agartala, Oct 25: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday evening said that the cooperation of every section of society is essential to make the state free from tuberculosis (TB). He was speaking at the inauguration of a food basket distribution programme for TB patients at Sukanta Academy, Agartala, organised as part of the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Nikshay Mitra Abhiyan.
The event was jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Agartala and the National Health Mission (NHM), with financial support from NTPC and NIPCO.

Highlighting the Centre’s commitment, the Governor said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid special emphasis on eliminating TB from India through nationwide campaigns. He added that the Tripura Government is equally committed to achieving this national goal.
During the programme, the Governor distributed food baskets to 200 TB-affected families.
Rotary Club of Agartala President Kishalay Ghosh delivered the welcome address. Among others who spoke were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, NIPCO Head of Power Supply Jitendralal Das, NHM Member Secretary Dr. Nupur Debbarma, and Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder.
