Agartala, Oct 25: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated the Sharad Samman 2025 ceremony organised by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Rabindra Centenary Hall. The event honoured clubs and social organisations for their excellence during Durga Puja celebrations under the AMC area.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister noted a visible transformation in the activities of city-based clubs in recent years. “Earlier, clubs in Agartala were less involved in social welfare. Today, many are actively contributing through blood donation, tree plantation, and anti-drug campaigns,” he said. Dr. Saha called upon clubs to maintain a healthy competitive spirit in public service and work collectively to build a drug-free and harmonious Tripura.

Emphasising unity and peace, he added that strengthening brotherhood among all communities is vital for the development of a healthy and inclusive society. The Chief Minister further stated that the government will not tolerate any attempt to disrupt the peace and order of the state.
This year, the AMC conferred Sharad Samman 2025 on 21 selected clubs, social organisations, and Puja committees. Five clubs received top honours in various categories Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Club (Best Idol), Kunjaban Sporting Club (Best Pandal), Flowers Club (Best Illumination), Cosmopolitan Club (Best Theme), and Shibnagar Mahila Puja Committee (Best Women’s Puja). Each received a trophy and a cheque of ₹50,000.
Zone-wise awards were also presented to clubs from Central, South, East, and North zones of the AMC area, with each winner receiving ₹25,000 and a trophy.
The programme was attended by MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and Acting Commissioner Megha Jain, among others. The ceremony concluded with the felicitation of judges who evaluated the Puja performances across the city.
