Tripura, 24 Oct 2025: A woman who had been missing for the past 16 days was rescued by police from the house of an alleged human trafficker in Champamura under the Kamalasagar Assembly Constituency.
According to reports, the housewife from Champamura area had gone missing over two weeks ago. Her husband subsequently lodged a missing complaint at the Bishalgarh Women Police Station. On Friday, local residents spotted the missing woman inside the house of one Suman Dutta, located near Champamura market.
The news quickly spread throughout the area, and a group of locals rushed to Dutta’s residence. They allegedly thrashed him before informing the Bishalgarh Women Police Station. Acting swiftly, police arrived at the scene, rescued the woman, and detained Suman Dutta for interrogation.
Local residents alleged that Suman Dutta is involved in human trafficking and has been engaged in such activities for a long time. They claimed that women are often brought to his house and later trafficked to other states.
Residents further alleged that Dutta had planned to traffic the missing woman to another state on Friday night. They have urged the police administration to take strict action against human traffickers operating in the region.
