“We Worked Day and Night for Our Children’s Future – Now It’s All Gone”: Farmer’s Wife in Tears After Field Destroyed
Tripura, 22 Oct 2025: A shocking incident has been reported from Ward No. 3 of Bagber Gram Panchayat under Boxanagar RD Block, where miscreants destroyed a flourishing cucumber field belonging to local farmer Uttam Das. According to the family, the entire one-kani plot with about 3,200 cucumber plants across 100 beds was slashed down overnight, causing losses worth several lakh rupees.
The family said the crop had just started bearing fruit when the destruction took place. On seeing his ruined field the next morning, Uttam Das reportedly fainted out of shock.

Arpita Das, the farmer’s wife, said tearfully, “We worked from 4 a.m. till 10 p.m. every day in this field, hoping to secure our children’s future. Now everything is gone. We spent more than one lakh rupees on this farm.”
She further alleged that this was not the first attack: “Earlier, our rubber plants were cut down and fish in our pond were poisoned. It seems to be the result of an old enmity.”
The incident has triggered anger and fear in the locality. The family has urged the administration to conduct a thorough investigation and arrest the culprits. “Let God deliver justice, or we will be left destitute,” Arpita pleaded.
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha wrote on social media on October 21 that he was aware of similar acts of vandalism against farmers’ fields including those of Rakhal Nama and Sanjib Nama in North Jolaibari, and Durga Munda in Ishanpur. “Such incidents have deeply pained me,” the CM wrote. “Farmers are our food providers the foundation of our society. The government stands firmly with the affected families, and I have directed the concerned district administration to extend all necessary assistance immediately.”
