Massive Ganja Haul in Teliamura: 580 Kg Seized in Police Crackdown Led by OC Sanesh Debbarma
Tripura, 14 Oct 2025: In a major breakthrough against the drug trade, police under the leadership of Mungiakami OC Sanesh Debbarma carried out two back-to-back raids that have created a sensation across the Teliamura sub-division.
Acting on a tip-off, the police seized 580 kilograms of dry ganja, two luxury vehicles, and arrested one smuggler in separate operations conducted at Champlaibari and North Maharani areas.

During the Champlaibari raid, police intercepted a vehicle carrying 219 kg of cannabis. Interestingly, the vehicle bore “Telecom Duty” and “Press” stickers, along with multiple fake number plates, apparently used to dodge security checks. The vehicle’s actual registration number was later found to be TR01A0852. Investigators suspect that the traffickers were attempting to transport ganja by posing as officials or journalists.
In the second raid at North Maharani, police caught Sanjit Sarkar, the driver of a luxury SUV bearing number TR01CA0481, and recovered 361 kg of ganja from the vehicle.
Upon receiving the information, SDPO Rohan Krishan and DCM Surjit Debbarma rushed to both locations and closely monitored the operation.
Speaking to the media, SDPO Krishan said the bust was part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign and that investigations are underway to identify the larger smuggling network behind the consignment, which was reportedly being transported from Tripura to Bihar.
The success of the operation has drawn wide public appreciation, highlighting the Teliamura police’s strong stance against drug trafficking in the region.
