Agartala, October 11, 2025: A woman who had earlier alleged gang rape under Amtali Police Station jurisdiction has now withdrawn her statement, admitting that her previous claims were false.
Amtali SDPO Parmita Pandey briefed the media today about the full details of the incident. She stated that after a video surfaced on social media showing a patient at GBP Hospital claiming to be a victim of gang rape, Amtali Police immediately formed a special team to investigate the matter.
During multiple rounds of questioning, the woman admitted that her earlier statements were false and made while she was under the influence of intoxicants. “The woman herself confessed that no gang rape took place. She said she was not in her senses when she made those claims,” said SDPO Pandey.
An inquiry was also conducted in the presence of a lady Executive Magistrate, where the woman reiterated the same version that there was no sexual assault or gang rape.
According to the SDPO, the woman mentioned that the incident she referred to had allegedly occurred near Badarghat Railway Station. She is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital and is in stable condition.
Police have clarified that the viral video was based on false claims made by the woman while intoxicated, and no evidence of gang rape has been found in the investigation so far.
