Agartala, October 8, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has strongly condemned the alleged attack on BJP leaders and workers in North Bengal, accusing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of engaging in political violence even during a time of crisis.
Speaking to the media, CM Dr. Saha said, “The way the TMC government is running in West Bengal is beyond words. You all know the situation in North Bengal there’s been flooding, landslides, and people are in serious trouble. Our BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh went there to provide relief, but instead of supporting them, they were attacked by people used by the ruling party. Khagen Murmu is now admitted to a hospital in Siliguri.”
He added that such incidents have become a regular occurrence under the TMC regime. “There should not be any problem in providing relief to people in distress. Yet, they turned it into a political issue. People across India are angry about this. Even in Tripura, there have been protests expressing outrage,” he said.
CM Dr. Saha further alleged that the TMC has no real base in Tripura. “They only have signboards, not supporters. A few people tried to create a scene here, but police were already present and dispersed them quickly. Now some people have reportedly come from Kolkata to take advantage of the situation, but we are not worried,” he remarked.
He accused the TMC of trying to divert national attention from the North Bengal attack. “This is their attempt to divert attention from the main issue. But it won’t work the people know the truth. Every time they come to Tripura during elections, their popularity goes down. I can only pray that they gain some wisdom and focus on proper politics and law and order in West Bengal,” CM Dr. Saha concluded.
