Tripura, 4 Oct 2025: A shocking case of family violence has surfaced in North Padmabil Gram Panchayat, Ward No. 3, under Panisagar Police Station, where a land dispute led to a violent assault on Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m.
According to the victims, the incident occurred in the absence of the head of the family, Sapor Uddin, when his younger brothers Bashar Uddin (42) and Nizam Uddin (50) allegedly stormed into the house and launched a brutal attack. The immediate excuse was that Sapor Uddin’s goat had eaten vegetables from their land. However, the victims allege that the real motive was a long-standing property dispute.
During the attack, Sapor Uddin’s wife, Jarina Begum (45), their minor daughter, Dilwara Begum (16), and seven-year-old son, Abdul Selim, were severely beaten with sticks, wooden logs, and sharp weapons. All three sustained serious injuries.
They were first rushed to Uptakhali Hospital, and later referred to Dharmanagar District Hospital due to worsening conditions. Reports confirm that while young Abdul Selim has somewhat recovered after treatment, the condition of the mother and daughter remains critical.
Dilwara Begum, the minor daughter, has suffered a spinal fracture, leaving her bedridden. Jarina Begum, the mother, sustained a serious head injury and a fractured arm. She, too, is currently bedridden.
Due to financial constraints, Sapor Uddin has been unable to take them outside the state for advanced treatment. He alleged that his brothers’ real intention was to seize family property, and the assault was part of a larger plan.
Though he has filed a case of attempted murder at Panisagar Police Station, he claims justice has not yet been served. Instead, the accused brothers are allegedly pressuring him to withdraw the case and even issuing death threats.
Out of fear for their lives, Sapor Uddin has now taken shelter with his ailing wife and children at his in-laws’ house in Shanichhara. He has appealed to the administration for protection and justice.
