CM Urges Newly Appointed Government Employees to Work for Public Welfare Tripura
Tripura, 27 April 2025: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has urged the newly appointed government employees to work sincerely for public welfare. He stated that the current state government has formulated a transparent recruitment policy to provide government jobs. Those who have joined government service today have secured their jobs purely based on merit, without any influence or personal connections.
This has been possible only due to the transparent recruitment process of the state government. The Chief Minister called upon all the newly appointed employees to complete their work within the stipulated time with complete transparency. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed these views while inaugurating the appointment letter distribution ceremony held today at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.




Appointment letters were handed over to the newly recruited candidates in the Public Works Department (PWD), Social Welfare and Social Education Department, and Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited. At the event, appointment letters were distributed to a total of 479 candidates, including 197 Junior Engineers in the PWD, 126 candidates (for CDPO and ICDS Supervisor posts) in the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, and 156 candidates in Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited for posts like Assistant Manager, Cash-cum-General Clerk, and Multi-Tasking Staff. On stage, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries symbolically handed over appointment letters to a few candidates.
The program began with a one-minute silence in memory of the tourists who were recently killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha further said that the state government is working with determination towards the vision of making the country corruption-free, as initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He informed that, as of 2025, a total of 3,296 people have been given appointment letters for government jobs.
Since the 2018-19 financial year, a total of 16,942 individuals have been recruited in various departments of the state government. Additionally, 5,771 people have been appointed through outsourcing and contractual means in various departments. Over the past three years, 1,617 employment opportunities have been created in the state’s industrial areas through Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC). The Chief Minister also mentioned that cooperative societies have generated significant employment opportunities in the state, directly and indirectly engaging around 9 lakh people.
Under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, 53,623 self-help groups have been formed, connecting over 4 lakh women. Similarly, under the Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission, 5,941 self-help groups have been formed, involving more than 63,000 women. Currently, there are 91,871 “Lakhpati Didis” (women earning over a lakh annually) in the state. Speaking at the event, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy emphasized that the department is a significant platform for working towards the welfare of society.
He highlighted various welfare schemes, including those for the Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), initiated through the department’s 2025-26 budget. He further mentioned the vital roles that employees of the State Co-operative Bank play in strengthening the rural economy and the contributions of the newly appointed PWD employees to the state’s infrastructure development. Co-operation Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, in his speech, said that recruitment has been done based on a transparent process.
He noted that since the current government took office, technology-based initiatives like e-Office and e-Cabinet have been introduced. In his welcome address, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha called upon the newly appointed employees to utilize technological advancements responsibly and expedite government work with dedication. He also mentioned that Tripura is being recognized at the national level for excellence in the implementation of various development programs.
Also present at the event were PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte, Social Welfare and Social Education Department Secretary Tapas Roy, and the Chief Minister’s Secretary Apurba Roy.
