Awantipora, April 19: Four people were injured in a road accident early Friday morning after a passenger tempo rammed into a road divider near the Padgampora Bridge on National Highway 44 in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK14-3650, was reportedly en route from Jammu when the incident occurred. It was being driven by Zahid Ahmad Kasana, a resident of Qazigund. The injured have been identified as Sumitra from Chhattisgarh, Mukesh Kumar from Akhnoor, Vikas Singh from Jammu, and Hari Shankar from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
All were rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Awantipora for treatment. Shortly after the collision, the tempo caught fire, causing partial damage to the vehicle. However, quick action by local residents helped control the flames before they could spread or cause further injuries. Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and a case has been registered. Preliminary investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
