Agartala, 30th September 2024 – Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma emphasized the importance of both academic excellence and cultural participation for tribal students while inaugurating a prize distribution ceremony at Sukanta Academy Auditorium today. The event recognized meritorious students from government-run tribal hostels in the state, where 23 tribal boys and 22 tribal girls were awarded for their performance in the Secondary Examination.
In his address, Minister Debbarma underscored the government’s commitment to improving the overall infrastructure of tribal hostels and advancing the quality of education for tribal students. He encouraged students to engage in sports and cultural activities, which not only bring joy but also foster social harmony.
Highlighting the government’s focus on quality education, the minister also announced an increase in Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship amounts for tribal students. He urged students to register on the National Scholarship Portal by October 31 to avail the benefits.
During the ceremony, outstanding performers from various tribal hostels were honoured, including Bilonia’s Lalita Tripura, who ranked first, followed by Sahel Tripura from Sabroom and Manasan Darlong from Kumarghat. Sports equipment such as footballs, carrom boards, volleyball nets, and cricket sets were also distributed among 164 tribal hostels across the state.
The event concluded with the distribution of trophies and certificates to the top-performing students by the minister and other dignitaries. The program was organized by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, with a welcome speech by Director Subhasish Das and a vote of thanks delivered by Joint Director V. Darlong.
