Agartala, 29th September 2024: In a major crackdown against illegal drug cultivation, Kalyanpur Police successfully destroyed 2,400 cannabis plants on Sunday. The operation was conducted in the Golap Thakurpara area, where approximately three acres of land across four separate plots were cleared of illegal cannabis cultivation.
The raid was carried out under the jurisdiction of Kalyanpur Police Station, following a tip-off received by the authorities. A joint team, led by Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pannalal Sen and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tapas Malakar of Kalyanpur Police Station, along with police personnel, women officers, and members of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), took part in the operation.
According to OC Tapas Malakar, the cannabis plants destroyed were valued between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh. This successful operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal drug cultivation in the region.
The local police, supported by Tripura’s anti-drug campaign, continue to target similar illegal activities to curb the spread of narcotics in the state.
