Agartala 5 Sep, 2024: On Thursday, the 63rd Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence across the state of Tripura. On this occasion, a state-level celebration of Teachers’ Day 2024 was organized at Agartala Town Hall. The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Santana Chakma. While inaugurating the program, the Minister said, “A teacher has to fulfill many difficult and significant responsibilities. Without an ideal teacher, no person can shape their life.”
During the event, Minister Santana Chakma paid homage to the great philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, emphasizing that the teaching community should advance by following his ideals and life principles. Special Secretary of the Education Department, Raval Hemendra Kumar, also addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of Teachers’ Day.
Prominent educationist Dr. Harekrisna Acharya was honored with the “Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Award,” social worker Deepak Bhattacharya received the “Maharani Tulsibati Award,” and educationist Bandana Chowdhury Barman was bestowed with the “Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Award 2024.” Additionally, 34 teachers from across the state were awarded the “Teachers’ Honor Award 2024.” The Minister of Industries and Commerce and other dignitaries presented these awards to the recipients.
The event was attended by Ratnajit Debbarma, Director of Kokborok and Other Minority Languages Department; Animesh Debbarma, Director of Higher Education; N. C. Sharma, Director of School Education; and other dignitaries. The minister and other guests also unveiled the special edition of “Shiksha Samachar,” a commemorative publication released to mark Teachers’ Day 2024. Moreover, Agartala Women’s College and Khumulwng Polytechnic College under TTAADC were awarded the “College of the Year” honor.
In recognition of their outstanding contribution, 14 schools across the state were awarded the “Best School” prize as part of the state-level Teachers’ Day 2024 celebration. Additionally, as part of the “Mission 555” program, eight schools were recognized at the district level for their excellence in promoting green plantations. These schools include:
- Samilita High School, West Tripura
- Khupilung High School, Gomati
- Harishadhan RP High School, South Tripura
- Ratanpur High School, Sepahijala
- Baruakandi Colony Higher Secondary School, North Tripura
- North Nalichara High School, Dhalai
- Asharambari High School, Khowai
- Dudhpur High School, Unakoti
The “Mission 555” program focused on creating green plantations and awarded schools for their contributions to this cause.
