Memorandum of Settlement to be Signed in New Delhi, Promising Peace and Development for Tripura
New Delhi (PIB News) 3 September, 2024: In a significant step towards peace and development in Tripura, a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) will be signed in New Delhi on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The agreement will be formalized in the presence of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. The MoS will involve the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and representatives from the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).
The ceremony will also be attended by Tripura’s Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Tripura. This settlement marks a continuation of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ efforts to achieve Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed Northeast, free from extremism and conflict.
Under PM Modi’s leadership, the central government has already signed 12 major agreements aimed at fostering peace and prosperity in the Northeast, with three specifically addressing issues in Tripura. These initiatives have led to approximately 10,000 individuals abandoning armed insurgency and integrating into mainstream society, underscoring the positive impact of the government’s efforts in the region.
