Agartala 29 August, 2024: To assess the impact of flood in the state the Inter-Ministerial Central Team has arrived in the state today. The central team led by the Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry (foreigners division) B. C. Joshi today had a meeting with the top officials of the state administration at the secretariat. At the outset the revenue secretary Brijesh Pandey gave a PowerPoint presentation on the devastating flood since August 19 and its impact in the state.
At the meeting the secretary of PWD (roads & building) and health department Kiran Gitte discussed about the flood related losses of his departments and the current situation. He presented a detailed report on the damages to roads, bridges, and culverts disrupting roads communication in the state. Abhishek Singh, secretary of DWS and power department also presented a report on the losses effected by the flood in these sectors.
Secretary of the agriculture department Apurba Roy informed, flood has caused significant losses in agriculture sector as well and presented a district-wise break-up of losses before the central team. He also discussed agricultural processes and the department’s future plans.
Fisheries and ARDD secretary Deepa D Nayar, secretary of RD Sandeep R Rathod, additional secretary of school education NC Sharma discussed the respective department’s losses. The members of the central team also exchanged views with the officials of the state administration. Among others present in the meeting were – secretaries and officials of transport, food and planning department.
