The Chief Minister underscored the vital role of teachers in nurturing not only the academic growth of students but also their development in literature, culture, sports, and scientific temperament.
Highlighting the responsibility of educators in shaping a well-rounded and morally upright society, Dr. Saha remarked, “Teachers play an indispensable role in instilling values such as justice, ethics, and etiquette in students, which ultimately leads to the formation of a healthy and ideal society.”
The newly inaugurated 40-bed teacher accommodation, constructed at a cost of ₹2.35 crore, and the academic building, which cost ₹6.41 crore, were both completed under the supervision of the Rural Development Department.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in determining the future direction of the nation and the state. He noted that SCERT provides essential training to help teachers unlock the latent potential of students, thereby contributing to the development of a healthy society.
Reflecting on India’s rich educational heritage, Dr. Saha said, “In ancient times, universities like Nalanda and Takshashila attracted students from across the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to reviving this golden era of education. Dr. Saha also addressed the ongoing challenge of students’ dependence on private tuition, urging SCERT and the Education Department to take effective measures to curb this trend.
Special Secretary of the Education Department, Ravel Hemendra Kumar, lauded the efforts of SCERT in aligning with the new NEP and highlighted its contributions to education reform and research in the region.
Other dignitaries present at the event included N.C. Sharma, Director of School Education; Dr. Dhananjoy Ganchoudhuri, Chairman of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education; and L. Darlaong, Director of SCERT.
