Agartala, July 25, 2024: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced a significant reduction in the quarterly kerosene quota for Tripura, aligning with changes seen in other states. The quota has been reduced from 3514 kiloliters to 1428 kiloliters for the period of July to September 2024.
As a result, the state government will allocate only 360 milliliters of kerosene per person per month through the public distribution system (PDS) during this period. This information was released in a press statement by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs.
The press release emphasized that the reduction in the kerosene quota is part of a broader strategy affecting multiple states. The state government is committed to ensuring fair distribution despite the reduced supply.
This reduction is expected to significantly impact the daily lives of Tripura’s residents, particularly those in rural areas and low-income groups who heavily rely on kerosene for their daily needs.
In response to this change, the state government is urging the public to explore alternative fuel options and has assured that efforts will be made to provide necessary support and resources to mitigate any hardships caused by the reduced kerosene allocation.
