Udaipur, July 22, 2024: Today, the Gomati District Guru Purnima Festival was celebrated at Udaipur Town Hall. The event was organized by the Department of Information and Culture, with the cooperation of the Gomati Zilla Parishad, Udaipur Municipality, and the School Education Department.
The festival commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Swami Shubhkarananda Maharaj, the secretary of Vivekananda Ramakrishna Math. In his inaugural address, Swami Shubhkarananda explained the significance of Guru Purnima, stating, “Our parents are our first gurus.” He highlighted the religious and social importance of Guru Purnima.
The event was presided over by the Chairperson of the Udaipur Municipality, Shital Chandra Majumdar. One of the key highlights of the festival was the felicitation of three distinguished gurus from Gomati district. The honorees were retired headmaster and President’s Award recipient Parimal Das, Mamoni Krishna Jyoti Pran of Alor Dishari Home, and noted sports coach Biralal Jamatia.
The welcome address was delivered by Manoj Debbarma, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Culture. He discussed the importance of Guru Purnima and the purpose behind its celebration.
Attendees enjoyed a joyful and enriching time, showing respect and gratitude towards their gurus on this auspicious occasion.
