Melaghar Rath Yatra Festival Wraps Up Nine Days of Cultural Extravaganza
Melaghar 15 July, 2024: The nine-day-long cultural festival marking the Melaghar Rath Yatra came to a vibrant conclusion on July 14. This grand event, inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on July 6, was a joint initiative by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and the Melaghar Town Council.
Inauguration and Cultural Festivities
Held at the Rabindra Mukta Manch in the Melaghar Jagannath Bari Field, the festival featured a series of cultural programs each evening. The event showcased a rich tapestry of performances by local artists and talent from various parts of the state.
Participation and Performances
An impressive 470 artists participated in the festival across various categories. Solo performances included 29 dancers and 14 musicians. In addition to solo acts, 18 organizations presented ensemble music, while 24 groups performed ensemble dance routines. The festival also highlighted the physical prowess of students from local schools, who participated in yoga exhibitions over a span of three days.
