Khowai 06 July, 2024: In a significant move to aid farmers affected by the recent Midhili cyclone, financial assistance totaling 51,42,500 has been disbursed directly into the bank accounts of 2,553 farmers in the Khowai sub-division. The distribution event was held day before yesterday at the Khowai Panchayat Samiti Hall and was inaugurated by Joydeb Debbarma, President of the Khowai Zilla Parishad. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the government’s initiatives to make farmers self-reliant and mentioned that paddy is being purchased twice a year at the minimum support price to help double the farmers’ income.
Prominent attendees included MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Khowai Zilla Parishad Standing Committee President Subrata Majumder, and Khowai Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tinku Bhattacharya. The event was presided over by the Vice Chairman of the Khowai Panchayat Samiti. Biswajit Das, the Khowai District Agriculture Officer, delivered the welcome speech. Agriculture Supervisor Shrikant Nath gave vote of thanks.
