Agartala, July 3, 2024: A workshop on the ‘e-Mulakat’ web portal was organized today by the Prison Department at the Government Guest House in Agartala. The workshop was inaugurated by Prison Minister Santana Chakma. The ‘e-Mulakat’ web portal aims to facilitate video conferencing for meetings between prison inmates and their family members.
In her inaugural address, Minister Santana Chakma said, “Once the ‘e-Mulakat’ portal is fully operational, it will greatly benefit inmates and their families by saving both time and money. I am hopeful that with the cooperation of the participants in today’s workshop, this initiative of the state government will be successful.”
IG Prisons Subhasis Das stated that the ‘e-Mulakat’ portal will be available in all 12 prisons across the state. He noted, “This initiative will also enhance security within the prisons.”
The workshop was attended by officials from various state prisons and representatives from NIC. During the session, the functionality and use of the ‘e-Mulakat’ portal were discussed in detail.
This digital initiative by the state government is expected to make communication between inmates and their families more accessible and efficient.
