Rani Bazar, July 2, 2024: Emphasizing that social development is incomplete without the empowerment and rights of women, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the state government’s commitment to women’s advancement. Speaking at a Muskaan event under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme held at Geetanjali Hall in Rani Bazar, the minister presented educational kits to 24 young girls as a token of appreciation.
“Women are excelling in various high-ranking positions today but continue to face issues like domestic violence, female infanticide, and child marriage,” said Minister Chowdhury. “To combat these social issues and promote women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. Following this vision, the state government is also working diligently to eradicate these societal problems.”
The minister called for collective support from all sections of society to assist the state government’s efforts in protecting and advancing women’s rights.
The event was chaired by Rani Bazar Municipality Chairperson Arpan Shukla Das. Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jirania, Animesh Dhar, also addressed the gathering, and the welcome speech was delivered by Rani Bazar ICDS Project CDPO, Shrabani Roy. Notable attendees included Rani Bazar Municipality Vice-Chairperson Prabir Kumar Das and social worker Gouranga Bhowmik. A play highlighting the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ theme was also performed during the event.
