Panisagar, July 2, 2024: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the newly constructed District Institute of Educational Training (DIET) College in Jalebasa, North Tripura, today. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and quality, he highlighted education as a top priority for the state.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Saha remarked, “Education has no substitute, and our government is fully committed to improving the educational system.” He also noted, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, significant improvements have been made in the nation’s educational framework, especially with the introduction of the New National Education Policy.”
The construction of the new DIET College cost ₹4.4 crore. Alongside the DIET College, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed two-story building of Panisagar Higher Secondary School, costing ₹3.16 crore. Both projects are funded under the Vidyajyoti Project and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
The inauguration was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, MLAs Binay Bhushan Das and Yadab Lal Nath, North Tripura Zila Parishad Chairman Bhavatosh Das, Special Secretary of School Education Ravval Hemendra Kumar, District Magistrate of North Tripura Debapriya Bardhan, and Director of School Education Nripendra Chandra Sharma. Sanjay Das, Chairman of the Panisagar Panchayat Samiti, presided over the event.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to restore India’s educational heritage, the Chief Minister stated, “Our initiative is to reclaim our glorious past in education.” He revealed that the central government has allocated ₹1,12,899 crore for education in the 2023-24 fiscal year, a significant increase compared to previous years.
The government is also working to transform 14,500 schools into PM SHRI schools, with a planned expenditure of ₹27,360 crore over the next five years. Additionally, programs like ‘Vidya Pravesh’ aim to engage children through play-based learning, and ‘Ullas’ focuses on bringing marginalized youth back into the educational fold. The DIET College will play a crucial role in teacher training to promote quality education and better student performance.
