Nalchar Block, June 27, 2024 — An awareness camp on waste material recycling was held yesterday in Nalchar Block, marking a significant step towards sustainable waste management in the region. The event, organized by the Eco Club of Krishnakumar Class XII School with the support of the State Pollution Control Board, took place at the Melaghar Town Hall and drew considerable community attention.
The camp was inaugurated by MLA Kishore Barman, who emphasized the critical role of effective waste management in environmental protection. In his address, he highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing waste processing initiatives, crucial for mitigating environmental degradation.
“Nurturing sustainable waste management practices is not just a necessity but an imperative to safeguard our environment for future generations,” Barman remarked during his opening speech.
Nalchar Panchayat Samiti Chairman Jawaharlal Ghosh, Sipahijala District Education Officer Malay Bhowmik, and State Pollution Control Board Officer Aparajita Das were among the key speakers at the event. Each highlighted various aspects of waste management and the community’s role in embracing recycling practices.
The event began with a welcome speech from school teacher Putul Rani Das, setting a collaborative tone for the proceedings. Gopal Das, the headmaster of Krishnakumar Class XII School, presided over the event, emphasizing the school’s commitment to environmental education and sustainable practices.
