Udaipur, 27 June: In a significant step towards eradicating tuberculosis (TB) at the grassroots level, the Gomati District TB Free Gram Panchayat felicitation program was held yesterday at Rajarshi Hall, Udaipur. The event, inaugurated by Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy, celebrated the achievement of 60 gram panchayats across eight blocks that have successfully combated TB.
Addressing the attendees, Finance Minister Roy underscored the state government’s dedication to transforming the healthcare system. He highlighted key initiatives such as the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, designed to make health services more accessible. Roy also lauded the nationwide TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aspires to create a TB-free India.
As part of the ceremony, Minister Roy distributed nutrition kits to two TB patients, symbolizing the ongoing support for those affected by the disease. Representatives from the 60 TB-free gram panchayats were honored with mementos in recognition of their successful efforts to eradicate TB within their communities.
The event also featured notable speeches from MLA Abhishek Debroy and Shital Chandra Majumder, Chairperson of Udaipur Municipality, reflecting on the collaborative efforts needed to tackle TB. The program was presided over by Debal Debroy, Acting President of Gomti Zilla Parishad, and attended by key officials, including Kakraban Panchayat Samiti Chairman Supriya Saha and Tepaniya Panchayat Samiti Chairman Jharna Das.
In his welcome speech, Dr. Kamal Reang, Chief Medical Officer, praised the collective efforts of the district’s gram panchayats and the health department in achieving this milestone.
