Tripura 19 June, 2024: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu today visited the Gomti hydropower plant in Thirthamukshathi. During the visit, the Governor inquired about the various issues of the hydropower plant and directed the officials concerned to take initiatives for the development of the hydropower plant. After that, a meeting was held with the sub-divisional and district level officials of various departments on the development program at the Tirthmukh Mela premises under the chairmanship of the Governor. In the meeting, District Magistrate of Gomti District Tarit Kanti Chakma highlighted the various issues undertaken by various departments for the development of Teerthmukh area including Gomati hydropower project. In the meeting, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nannu Gomti hydropower station exchanged views with the officials concerned.

In the meeting, the official of the Water Resources Department said that water is being supplied to the farmers in Korbok, Amarpur and Udaipur subdivisions from the Gomati river for their cultivation. Besides, Gomati district has a 42 km long canal as a source of irrigation. 1,500 hectares of agricultural land in the district has been brought under irrigation through this canal. In the meeting, the governor advised the officials concerned to expand this canal. In the meeting, the official of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation said that Gomati river water is being made suitable for use and drinking water is being provided door to door in the areas of Jatanbari, Amarpur, Udaipur etc. Besides, the governor directed the officials of the fisheries department to take initiatives to meet the demand of fish in the state besides rearing the fish farming families around Dumbur reservoir. He also directed the fish farmers to ensure that various government facilities are provided at the right time. At present, 1 thousand 512 fish are being farmed in Dumbur reservoir. The Governor laid emphasis on scientific method of fish farming to produce more in them.
In the meeting, the Governor was apprised of the various developmental works undertaken by the Rural Development Department at Thirthmukh and directed to complete the works before the next Thirthmukh Mela. Moreover, the governor also inquired about the measures in place in case of flood situation in the area around Dumbur reservoir. The Governor visited a fish hatchery at Udaipur on his way back to Agartala. Fisheries officials briefed the Governor on how the fish fingerlings were produced in the hatcheries. It is to be noted that Governor Indrasena Reddy Nalu spent the night at the coconut grove in Dumbu reservoir yesterday. The Governor also visited Dumbur Dam while coming from Narkelkunj this morning.
