Agartala, June 11, 2024: In a commendable initiative by the Tripura State Women’s Commission, a ceremonial event was held at the commission’s office today to honor outstanding female employees and exemplary students. The event recognized Padmashree awardee Deepa Karmakar and posthumously honored Padmashree awardee Smriti Rekha Chakma.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 13 meritorious students from secondary and higher secondary education, who received scholarship awards. Chairperson Ranjana Debbarma lauded the students, stating their exam success was just a beginning. She emphasized the potential for these young women to grow as leaders in society, inspired by the principles of equality championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
In her address, Debbarma highlighted the essential role of women in shaping an equitable society, aligning with the government’s vision. The event also saw speeches from key figures including District Welfare and Social Education Officer Bipul Ghosh, and State Women’s Commission Secretary Madhabi Pal, who underscored the commission’s commitment to women’s advancement.
Apart from the scholarship presentations, Deepa Karmakar and posthumously honored Chakma were awarded tokens of recognition by the Chairperson. The event concluded with ceremonial tree planting to symbolize growth and sustainability, led by State Women’s Commission Vice-Chairman Mukul Choudhury.
