Tripura 22,November 23: In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and support farmers across the state, Tripura has laid out plans to establish Agriculture Sub-District Offices in strategic locations. On Wednesday, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, inaugurated the Lefunga Agriculture Sub-District Office in the Prangana block, marking it as the 44th such office in the state.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Ratan Lal Nath emphasized the state government’s commitment to providing assistance to farmers. He highlighted the visionary approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has prioritized the welfare and development of farmers. The minister expressed that nearly 36% of the state’s average internal production comes from agriculture, showcasing the sector’s significance in Tripura.
Minister Nath further stated that farmers in Tripura have witnessed a substantial increase in income. Around 2,46,000 farmers in the state are beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Kishan Samman Nidhi scheme, receiving an annual incentive of ₹6,000. Both the central and state governments are actively involved in various projects aimed at promoting self-sufficiency among farmers.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as Vice Chairman of Lefunga Block Advisory Committee, Buddha Debbarma, local government official Subhash Datta, and Dr. Phanibhushan Jamatia, the head of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department. Sharadindu Das, the official from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, expressed a welcoming statement at the event.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chairman of Lefunga Block Advisory Committee, Ranabir Debbarma, who ensured that the establishment of the Agriculture Sub-District Office in Lefunga would significantly benefit local farmers.
This initiative is part of the state government’s broader plan to establish 58 such offices across all blocks, with the primary objective of providing localized support and guidance to farmers. The newly inaugurated Lefunga Agriculture Sub-District Office is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating the growth and prosperity of agriculture in the region.
As Tripura continues to invest in agricultural development, the government aims to create a self-sufficient and resilient farming community, contributing to the overall progress of the state.
