Agartala, November 7: A deadly clash on VIP Road in Agartala led to the tragic death of Nagina Prasad Rai, aged 60. The conflict revolved around a long-standing dispute between two families over a property boundary (5 November night incident).
The incident left at least five people seriously injured, with Nagina Prasad Rai suffering a severe head injury during the heated confrontation. He was rushed to the GBP Hospital immediately, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.
In response to this tragic incident, the local police have arrested five individuals, namely, Bijendra Rai, Satindra Rai, Deenesh Rai, Nasib Lal Rai, and Ram Sagar Rai, all residents of the NCIS Thana area. Each of them was apprehended for their involvement in the violent altercation.
Additionally, the prime accused in the murder case, Nischibar Rai, who is a BSF personnel, remains at large, despite the extensive police investigation. The suspects were found in possession of weapons and other items allegedly used in the crime.
The incident had its roots in a longstanding property dispute between the two families, which had escalated into physical confrontations in recent times. On Sunday morning, a heated argument between the two families in the Khajur Bagh area of the NCIS Thana escalated into a violent confrontation. Ram Sagar Rai’s family members reportedly attacked Nagina Prasad Rai and his family, leading to injuries on both sides.
The victims’ families are seeking justice for the untimely death of Nagina Prasad Rai. They hope that those responsible for his murder will face appropriate legal consequences.
