Tripura 01 Sep,2023: Tripura Police is set to employ drone technology for the covert detection of illicit ganja cultivation in the state’s rugged and secluded regions, with South Tripura police leading the charge. In a pioneering move, they have successfully trialed this technology in Sabroom, Belonia, where prospective operators have already undergone training.
A senior official informed reporters that they frequently stumble upon ganja shipments in various locations, leading them to suspect that it might be grown within the state. However, pinpointing the exact locations of these ganja fields, typically concealed in remote hills and dense terrain, posed a significant challenge. This prompted authorities to explore the use of drone technology.
The official disclosed that experimental deployments in remote Sabroom areas yielded promising results, and they are now gearing up for broader implementation in the near future.
