Khumulwng, September 25 : In the recent ADC session, Executive Member of the Education Department, Rabindra Debbarma, revealed that the ST Girls’ Hostel under Ampinagar IS, built in 2011-12 at a cost of ₹126.49 lakh, is now in a dilapidated condition, making it unsuitable for student accommodation. He was responding to a written query by member Saudagar Koloi. Debbarma assured that immediate repairs will be carried out to restore the hostel.
In response to additional questions from Kamal Koloi, Bhubarajan Reang, Executive Member of the Land Records and Settlement Department, clarified that no land allotment has been given to non-tribal communities in the ADC areas. Any cases of non-tribal residents without proper land allotment will be thoroughly investigated, and action will be taken as per legal provisions. Reang further mentioned that non-tribal applicants must have their name or their ancestors’ name on the 1971 voter list to be eligible for land allotment.
On recruitment matters, Debbarma also mentioned that there are plans to hire Amin, Chainmen, and Junior Surveyors in the 2025-26 fiscal year, depending on financial provisions.
Addressing another query from member Umashankar Debbarma, the Executive Member of the Agriculture Department informed the house that 40 units have adopted the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) technique in areas like mandwi, Tulasikhar, Rupaichari, Ganda Twisa, Chamanu, and Kanchanpur during the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The session also saw an update from Health Executive Member Kamal Koloi, who revealed that tele-emergency services at Khrengbar Hospital had to be halted due to a lack of sufficient funds from the state government. Meanwhile, in response to a written question from Umashankar Debbarma, Public Works Executive Member Runeil Debbarma stated that a total of 55.69 kilometers of brick soling roads and 4.43 kilometers of blacktop roads have been constructed between the 2021-22 and 2024-25 fiscal years.
Finally, Sports Executive Member Suhel Debbarma announced plans to establish three new sports schools in the 2024-25 fiscal year, with one each in Gomati Zone (Killa), Sepahijala Zone (Jampuijala), and Khowai Zone (Lankapura).
The session ended with an emphasis on improving infrastructure and facilities for the development of ADC areas.
