Agartala, September 22: Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Professor Manik Saha, took to social media to commend the state’s Hojagiri dance artists for their mesmerizing performance at the Central Silk Board’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations held in Mysore and Bengaluru.
In his post, the Chief Minister wrote, “Tripura shines! Our talented Hojagiri dance artists mesmerized audiences at Central Silk Board’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Mysore & Bengaluru. Hojagiri, a traditional folk dance of the Reang (Bru) community in Tripura, is primarily performed by women. The dance highlights exceptional balance and precision, as dancers gracefully move on earthen pitchers while balancing objects on their heads. Accompanyied by traditional folk music, Hojagiri reflects the cultural richness of the Reang community and has become an emblem of Tripura’s artistic heritage.
The Chief Minister’s praise has further highlighted the importance of this folk art in representing the state on prestigious platforms across the country.
