Agartala, September 12, 2024: The third National Lok Adalat of the year is set to be held in Tripura on September 14, 2024, a Saturday, across various courts in the state. The Lok Adalat sessions will take place in the premises of the Tripura High Court as well as in all district and sub-divisional courts, even though it falls on a government holiday. A total of 51 benches have been constituted to take up 23,994 cases for resolution.
The cases to be taken up at the Lok Adalat include 3,920 pre-litigation disputes and 20,074 pending cases. The categories of cases that will be heard include 370 motor accident compensation cases, 3,205 cases related to bank loan recovery, 17,777 compoundable criminal disputes (such as under the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act, and Excise Act), 286 matrimonial disputes, 1,601 cheque bounce cases, 11 employment-related cases, and 16 civil disputes.
The Tripura High Court will have one bench, which will handle 31 cases. Meanwhile, the Agartala court premises will have the highest number of benches, with 11 set up to handle a large volume of cases. Notices have already been issued to all the concerned parties, and since August 6, 2024, both sides of the disputes have been engaging in pre-conciliation efforts facilitated by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority (SDLSA).
To assist the participants, para-legal volunteers will be available at the Lok Adalat. The Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Mrs. Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury, has urged everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to resolve their disputes quickly and without incurring any legal costs.
