Agartala, August 12, 2024: In a significant operation, the West Agartala Police successfully apprehended a notorious drug peddler and detained five individuals linked to a recent theft case. The crackdown reflects the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb illegal activities in the region.
Acting on a tip-off, officers from the West Agartala Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das, conducted a raid in the Radhanagar area on the evening of August 11. The suspect, identified as Biplab Banik, was found in possession of 135 containers of drugs, weighing approximately 2.70 grams and valued at around ₹50,000. This arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling a local drug network.
Upon interrogation, Banik revealed the involvement of five other individuals in the drug trade. Although the police conducted raids at their residences, the suspects managed to evade capture. However, Officer Das assured that efforts are underway to bring them to justice.
In a separate incident, the West Agartala Police made a breakthrough in a theft case reported at Borjola School. On August 5, a group of miscreants stole several ceiling fans, computer accessories, and furniture from the school premises. After thorough investigation, police arrested five suspects: Samir Bin, Bilas Gupta, Yadumani Gupta, Shanu Dev, and Rajesh Debnath. The stolen items, including three ceiling fans and a machete, were recovered from their possession.
