In accordance with the 1951 Representation of the People Act, Section 135B, the Tripura government has announced a public holiday on August 8, 2024, in regions where the three tire Panchayat elections are being conducted. This decision aims to facilitate voters in exercising their voting rights.
All government offices, magisterial courts, educational institutions, financial institutions, and other establishments in the election areas will remain closed on this day. Furthermore, employees working in industrial establishments under the Factory Act 1948, which fall under the Tripura government’s jurisdiction, will be granted a paid holiday.
Special casual leave will be provided to employees working in government institutions or industrial establishments in election areas but residing in other parts of the state. Additionally, casual and daily wage workers residing outside the polling areas will also be entitled to paid leave on August 8, 2024.
However, this order will not apply to employees whose absence could result in significant harm or danger to their respective institutions.
The General Administration of the Tripura government issued this notification to ensure smooth conduct of the Panchayat elections and enable citizens to fulfill their civic duties.
